Hiring St Mary’s Church
The church is available to hire on a limited basis for musical concerts, talks and presentations, subject to approval by the Churchwardens.
Facilities
The church seats 180 people in upholstered chairs and additional folding chairs can be placed in the aisles. We have an extensive sound desk with audio visual capabilities (when using these options, hirers are required to pay for AV support supplied by St Mary’s). Guest wifi is available. Toilets are provided in the Chapter House, including a toilet with disabled access and child changing facilities. A servery at the back of the church can be used for serving drinks.
Limitations on Hiring
The Church is unable to accept bookings which are in conflict with the Christian Gospel or which promote any political party or opinion. The Parish Secretary will work with anyone wishing to hire the Hall to ensure that the use of the Church is acceptable within these limitations. The Church is not available to hire on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesday mornings (during term time) and Wednesday mornings.
Hire Rates
- Session Hire Rate (morning / afternoon / evening) - £200 / session
- Hourly Hire Rate for rehearsals - £20 / hour
- Audio AV Support (use of microphones) - £50.00
- Audio & Video Support (mics and cameras) - £100.00
- Additional charge if hirer records audio using own equipment - £100.00
- Additional charge if hirer records video using own equipment - £100.00

Hiring the Church Hall
Facilities
The Church Hall is available for private hire. It is suitable for children’s parties (only up to the age of 10), meetings and exhibitions and can hold events of up to 120 people. Sliding doors divide the main room into two sections (the one area roughly twice the size of the other) for smaller gatherings. There is also a smaller room adjacent to the kitchen suitable for around 15 people.
The kitchen is modern and well-equipped with a fridge, cooker, dishwasher, sinks, crockery and cutlery. Users are expected to leave the hall clean and tidy, and cleaning materials can be found in the cleaners’ cupboard.
Hire charges
The current hire charges are negotiable to match the length of hire required based on:
- Commercial company hire - £21 per hour
- Other hire - £14 per hour (minimum session 1.5 hours)
- or £48 per session of 4 Hours

How to Book & Availability
The Hall is not available on Sundays except for Christening parties and Church events. The Church Hall has some regular bookings but times may be available to fit in with your needs between the current regular bookings; it is also usually available on:
- Saturdays except for some mornings
- Most Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7am to 4pm
- Most evenings from 8.30pm to 11pm.
