St Mary's Sunday Evening Youth Group

A space to get together, play some silly games and chat about life, the universe and everything

If you are secondary age and live in the Risborough area you are welcome to come along and be part of our youth group. Every Sunday evening during term time we get together to play games (outside in the summer months), chat a bit, eat cookies, drink hot chocolate and generally just hang out.

  • When does it happen? Youth Group Autumn Term 2026 runs from 13 September until 13 December 2026. (With a break on 25 October and 1 November for half term).
  • What time does it happen? Sundays @6:30pm - 7:45pm
  • Where is it held? Upstairs in the Chapter House behind St Mary's

We are all about BBG!

The youth group was set up in January 2025 with the following aims in mind:

  • To enable children and young people of secondary age to continue to belong to St Mary’s church.
  • To provide the space and time to support young people as they develop and think through what they believe about their faith.
  • To provide encouragement, honesty and safety as they grow as people who act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with God

Every young person is welcome to our youth group, whether they have a personal Christian faith or not. The activities and discussions we plan will hopefully help us all to Belong, to explore what we Believe and continue to Grow as people.

We also have had a load of socials that have included:

  • Visiting our local dairy farm (and seeing a 1 hour old calf!)
  • Pizza and Movie night (making our own pizzas)
  • Barbeque at St Dunstans Park (with rounders)

The discussions topics we have covered recently have included:

  • Times in the wilderness - we all have them!
  • What actually is the Bible?
  • I am the...  Who did Jesus actually say he was?

Some of the older young people have started an 'After Hours' discussion group to delve deeper into the big questions that matter to them.

We also had another go at taking-over a Sunday morning 11.15am service in July 2026 providing the music and leading all the different parts of the service.

We've got room for around 16-20 young people so if you want to get yourself on the list please talk to your parents and register using the orange button to join in the fun.  We will then be in touch.
