Missional Communities

Maker & Fixer

Missional Community was launched in April 2024 and meets every third
Sunday of each month at Culverton Farm, Wycombe Road, Princes Risborough, HP27 0EU.
We partner with lay leaders from St John’s Church Lacey Green, the Yurt Missional
Community, the Ukraine to Chilterns Community and the Maidenhead Green Skills Library to run a monthly workshop, where we offer two or three making projects, or repair projects.
We will also listen to the Bible read in English and Ukraine & Russian and reflect on a theme from Scripture each gathering. We end our time with food, drinks and time to finish our projects and get to know one another.

We would love to hear from you if you are able to teach a ‘making’ or ‘fixing’ skill with the Team at ‘Maker & Fixer’.

Pastoral Care

We extend pastoral care to our church family and community through our volunteers.

What is involved?

Be a Befriender to those in need, whether that is Home Visiting of the elderly and those who feel isolated/vulnerable.
Making contact with people we are made aware of who are unwell and offering support and prayer if appropriate.
Contacting the recently bereaved to, either signpost to the Bereavement Group or provide home visit or telephone support as agreed with the recipient.
Take referrals from members of the congregation who are aware of someone in need.
Generally being compassionate, kind, and caring to all we meet with a relaxed and friendly approach, whilst at the same time delivering care in a professional manner.

Children & family work at St Mary’s

We welcome volunteers to help at our regular activities. All volunteers must have a DBS certificate and complete Safeguarding Training at the outset.

Sunday morning Kid’s Church during the 11.15am service (teaching, crafts)
Messy Church (planning & admin, talk giver, leading crafts, games, preparing & serving food)
Play Café (setting up & clearing away, chatting to parents & carers, playing with toddlers, supervising crafts, serving refreshments, read a story, lead singing)

Outreach

There are a wide range of different outreach events that we are involved in St Mary’s. Some of these are specific to Missional Communities and Children and Families, and others are aimed at different groups within our community.

Here are some examples with ideas of how you can volunteer to help:

Monthly Lunch Club for older people (set up & clear away, chat to people, lead craft activities, prepare & serve food, bake cakes)
Ladies & Men’s breakfasts (planning, shopping for supplies, serving food)
Tea for All (baking, chatting to guests, set up & clear away)
The Princes Centre (volunteer helpers to spend time with clients)

Charities

St Mary’s gives 15% of our gross income to Charity. The charities are chosen by the PCC from nominations put forward by the Church family.

As well as providing funds for our charities we support them through prayer and communication. For some of our charities, this commitment is strengthened by
