Project Latest: 17 Weeks to go!There are now only 17 Sundays until the first full week of January 2011, when we aim to begin clearing the church ready for RENEWAL. The building work will take 10 months, so we hope to re-occupy the church in time to celebrate Christmas 2011.
Latest newsThere are now only 6 months to go! There is a lot to do to be ready to begin clearing the church for the most major work since the 1860s, but we are ticking off major steps. Design work. The biggest news is that the Diocesan Advisory Committee (the planning authority) has approved the plans for the floor, move of the font and memorial chapel, new South door, and AV system ‘plumbing’. They have asked for more details on modifications to the pulpit and the new site for the aumbry. Work on the detailed design is still going on – it has to define exactly what is needed; to get what we want we have to specify it in great detail for the contractor. Specific areas are: what happens at all the nooks and crannies (eg chancel and south wall), electrical design including lighting for the new memorial chapel, and ‘plumbing’ for the audio-visual system. Fundraising. At time of writing we still need £26,500 to reach our target, a wonderful achievement when you remember that we needed a quarter of a million pounds in January. However, we still have to raise £26,500! Can you help? The most effective way to give is a small monthly donation by standing order. Please give what you can afford. The story of our fundraising is one of how it adds up when people give regular modest amounts. Prayer. Please continue to pray about the renewal work and for all involved in it. Each Wednesday morning about 10-12 people gather for Project Prayers in church. Please join us, in body, or if you cannot be there, in spirit.
