We are delighted that you are considering St Mary’s or St Peter’s for your wedding. If you want to know more, then please read the information in our leaflet – 2022-A Short guide to arrangements for weddings (See below) – and if you’d like to proceed, then contact the Parish Office .
If you have an address within the parish you can get married by the calling of Banns. Banns are read on three consecutive Sundays at one of our Sunday services and we like you to join us for this if possible.
If you do not live in the parish, you can still get married at St Mary’s if either of you can show just one of the qualifying connections with the parish as set out by the Church of England in the Marriage Application Form.
We would like to make your wedding a day of happiness and the clergy will arrange a meeting to discuss your requirements for the service. Before this meeting you should read the information in our guide, 2022-A Short guide to arrangements for weddings. The Church of England fees are set out in this document. You will also need to complete the Marriage Application Form. You will be offered the chance to participate in a marriage preparation course, to help you to prepare for your new life together.
When planning your wedding at St Mary’s, do have a look at the Church of England website (https://www.yourchurchwedding.org/) and discover all you need to know about Church of England weddings and blessings. Marrying in church is personal, meaningful, spiritual and beautiful, just as you want it to be.
