Getting married at St Mary's

Page last updated 8 March 2010

If you wish to enquire about getting married at St Mary's or St Peter's, then please read the information in the application form and if you'd like to proceed, then contact the Parish Office .  If you have an address within the parish you can get married by the calling of Banns.  Banns are read on three consecutive Sundays at our 10.00 am Communion Service and we like you to join us for these services if possible.

If you do not live in the parish, you can still get married at St Mary's if either of you can show just one of the following connections with the parish.

That one of you:

  • was baptised in the parish or
  • was prepared for confirmation in the parish or
  • has at any time lived in the parish for a period of at least 6 months or
  • has at any time regularly gone to normal church services in St Mary's for a period of at least 6 months or

That one of your parents, at any time after you were born:

  • has lived in the parish for a period of at least 6 months or
  • has regularly gone to normal church services in St Mary's for a period of at least 6 months or

That one of your parents or grandparents:

  • was married in the parish

We would like to make your wedding a day of happiness and the clergy will arrange a meeting to discuss your requirements for the service. Before this meeting you should read the information in our guides "Arrangements for weddings" and "Flower arrangements for weddings". We will also offer you the chance to participate in a marriage preparation day, run by the Risborough Team, to help you to prepare for your new life together.
