Lent Appeal for CPAP Ventilator

February 10, 2021 By Hilary Derbyshire

2021 Lent Appeal

Funding a new CPAP Ventilator for the Potters Village Children’s Centre in Uganda

CPAP VentilatorDo you try to “give up” something for Lent? If so, would you consider putting the money you save towards our appeal to support our CMS partner, Dr Nicci Maxwell, in her work helping sick children and premature babies?

Nicci, as you may well know, is a paediatrician working at the Potters Village Children’s Centre in Kisoro, SW Uganda, on placement from the Church Mission Society, one of our major St Mary’s charities. She also teaches and helps with paediatric care at the nearest government hospital and, until Covid-19 led to border closures, she worked also in the nearby refugee camp.

You can find out more about Nicci’s work and what the CPAP machine would mean in her latest video: https://youtu.be/wmnC9bXVG3Y

Just over a year ago, we provided an oxygen machine for the Children’s Centre, which has proved invaluable. Now we hope to fund a new paediatric “CPAP” ventilator, costing £1,750. All Nicci’s equipment is in frequent use and gets patched up and kept working for far longer than it would in the UK, but her current ventilator is simply beyond repair. It would be an answer to prayer if the St Mary’s church family could pay for its replacement.
