Services during Holy Week.
During Holy Week, we encourage you to visit the Church of England website where you will find services of Morning Prayer and Night Prayer each day. There will also be special services on Good Friday and Holy Saturday. On Easter Day St Mary’s will be live-streaming a special Service to celebrate Easter. This will be available on our YouTube page.
Activities to do at home during Holy Week and Easter
On Maundy Thursday you could reflect on the suggested bible studies for that day, and within your own household, you could re-enact Jesus washing his disciples feet, or join in a symbolic act of washing each other’s hands
You may also wish to consider making a donation to Charity. The Children’s Society is launching an emergency appeal. Visit www.childrenssociety.org.uk.
“The coronavirus has disrupted all our lives, but it has trapped vulnerable children at home, hidden from view and away from vital support. They’re all alone, trying to cope with their mental health problems, their fears and uncertainties, their abusers.”
On Good Friday you could make simple bread buns together (You Tube has useful ideas on bread making) and celebrate Jesus as the bread of Life.
On Holy Saturday make an Easter Garden together – children will really enjoy this (again, plenty of ideas on YouTube).
Easter Sunday at St Mary’s
An Easter morning service will be streamed at 9.30am – access in the usual way.
During this service, there will be a short clip comprising videos of families engaged in the Sunday Junior Church activities that Stella Upton has been supplying over the last few weeks. Families who wish to take part are asked to film a short video of themselves doing the activity and email it to Alex Rees. Thank you!
