A Journey in Prayer with the Apostle Paul

Sept 3rd ‘When he (Paul) had said this, he knelt down with all of them and prayed’
*Acts 20: 22 – 36 & Mark 1: 35 – 39
Introduction: Paul was activist who experienced a fruitful life and ministry. He was a man of action, but he was also passionate about prayer. For Paul, action and prayer walked hand in hand, and his confidence and courage find their roots in God and prayer.
Sept 10th ‘Receptive to God, Paul was guided by prayer’

Paul, the great man of action, is also Paul, the great man of prayer, and out of prayer, God makes his will known. Where do we look for guidance in life?
Sept 17th ‘The Church in Antioch, through prayer, became the springboard for world mission’
*Acts 13: 1 – 12 & Luke 4: 42 – 44
Paul’s journeying took him to the Church inn Antioch: a Church that fasted and prayed. This was a Church that took prayer seriously. As a result, out of their fasting and prayer, God led them into a new venture that would take the gospel of Jesus out into the world. How serious are we about prayer?
Sept 24th ‘The liberating power of prayer’

In a dirty Philippian prison, after prayer and praise, their chains came loose. Prayer brings release. It is the secret weapon of every believer and can lead people to experience the liberating power of God.
Oct 1st ‘Pray with thanksgiving’
*Philippians 4: 4 – 6 & Luke 17: 11 – 19
The Lord of the Harvest invites us to pray with thanksgiving: to cultivate an attitude of gratitude.
Oct 8th ‘Paul’s prayer for Timothy’
*2 Timothy 1: 1 – 6 & John 17: 1 – 11
Even though Paul is in prison, yet he turns to prayer. He prays with thanksgiving for Timothy, someone he loved deeply.
Oct 15th ‘Paul’s prayer for the Ephesians’
*Ephesians 3: 14 – 21 & Luke 9: 28 – 36
In awe and adoration, Paul kneels before his Heavenly Father.
Oct 22nd ‘The power of praise’

Many of the deepest moments of prayer are prompted by those times when we drop everything and simply turn to God in heartfelt praise!
Oct 29th ‘And this is my prayer… Paul’s prayer for the Philippians’

Paul prays for fruitfulness in the lives of the Christians in Philippi.
