We are pleased and proud to be able to say that our Children’s Worker is Ryan Romano (see photo) who will start at St Mary’s on 12 October on a three year appointment (with an option to extend to five years). After a comprehensive but successful recruitment process supported by your generous contributions and prayers we feel very fortunate to have found a very impressive individual in Ryan.
Ryan will be formally introduced to St Mary’s members at a service together with members of his family very shortly but he is well qualified and has strong experience in children’s and young people’s ministry.
Ryan comes from Tonbridge, Kent and prior to joining us he worked at St Stephen’s (the church community in which he grew up in) which is the parish church for the area of South Tonbridge where amongst other activities he planned and led youth and children’s groups, was a team leader for the 3-5 year old group and provided Christian lunch clubs in Primary and Secondary schools as well as teaching Religious Studies lessons to the 6th form. He is currently halfway through his BA in Mission and Ministry (Children).
Ryan – who is currently staying with a church family but is looking at finding permanent accommodation in the area -has a keen interest in developing areas such as sports ministry and encouraging people to become leaders to act as mentors for children. Ryan sees becoming our children’s worker as a perfect next step for him and looks forward to developing children’s ministry in our parish and meeting and working with the St Mary’s family.
